我的英文名字是從拉丁文Lavare，取其“清洗、清潔”的字義轉變而來的。因為以前的人都用我來洗澡、洗衣服或清洗傷口，可見很久以前的人就已經發現我的優點。另外，再跟你們說一個小秘密喔！英文字Laundry是洗衣服的意思，也是從拉丁文清洗這個字轉變過來的，跟我的意思是一樣的。而且，在拉丁文裏，u這個字和v這個字是沒有差別的，所以，有沒有發現！我的名字Lavender和洗衣服Laundry這個字很像ㄟ，因此，我的名字可以說是名符其實！
